As many of you know, our first son was born with biliary atresia and had surgery at almost 7 weeks old. Recently, in the homeschool writing class he attends, his teacher asked them to write a story about a miracle. Landon decided to write about his surgery. I dare you to read this and not cry. 🙂 I was choking up yesterday when I helped him edit it a bit.

The Day of my Surgery/Why I’m a Miracle
On the day of my surgery, I was 7 weeks old. So my parents took me to Houston. And my doctor’s name was Dr. Wesson. And he fixed my liver. He was a nice man. God helped the doctor make me well.
And so I was better from now on.
And I learned that you are not going to feel anything if you are asleep in your surgery.
Me being well is a miracle because my family was praying for me and I really think that’s a miracle.
I am thankful that God healed me so I could have a good life. And I’m strong because of my scar.
Yes, son, you are a miracle. And I love you.

My favorite line? “I am strong because of my scar.” I am so blessed by this reminder of the wisdom of being a child before the Lord. Scars a reminders of HIs strength, but so often we look at them in sadness, thinking they a reminder of what life has done TO us. Not what He has saved us FROM. Love it! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
