31 Days of Financial Savvy

31 days of financial savvy

Goodness, can you believe October is tomorrow already? Hard to believe my littlest guy will be one next month. NEXT MONTH! Crazy talk. In case you forgot what he looks like, here he is! Pretty cute, huh? (I have identical pictures of all 4 kids like this. And when I say identical, I mean identical. They all look so much alike at this age!)

Anyway, I am going to be writing (Lord willing!) for 31 Days on the subject of financial savvy. My husband and I were very fortunate to receive wise counsel from my parents in our early married days, and we’ve learned a lot along the way as well.

When we got married, my husband’s full-time salary as a youth minister was $12,000- a year! Additionally,  I was still in college (at a private school) and as you can probably guess, we were really poor. God was so faithful though and provided for us- even if through unconventional ways such as venison that Ben was able to “procure.” (I didn’t want to eat venison for years after that!) We were both able to finish college with no debt.

But all in all, we learned how to be very frugal along the way and even though we were able to loosen up quite a bit in his next job, we determined to never go into debt except for a house. And thankfully, we have been able to do that so far.

I’m not a financial expert for sure, but I’d love to share what I’ve learned with you. I know in modern-day America it may seem impossible to live without credit card debt, but for the vast majority, it is possible! It just requires hard work and lifestyle changes.

Along the way, I also have a few guest posters lined up that I am sure you’ll love.

Please feel free to e-mail me at any time with any questions you have. My goal is to be as helpful as possible!
