A few weeks ago, I remembered that every October, The Nester hosts a “31 Days” series. Basically, bloggers pick one topic and write on it every day in October. (So far I’ve done 31 Days of All things Children; 31 Days of Financial Savvy, and 31 Days of Making a House a Home.) I mulled it over what I’d write about off and on. Food? Kids again? One main topic just wasn’t sticking out to me.
Finally, late last night it came to me: Making Small Changes. This can encompass so many areas of life: our spiritual lives, our family relationships, eating, finances, the list goes on and on. Since this blog covers a myriad of topics anyway (the title is pretty evident of that!) I wanted a 31 Days that embraced this variety.
I’ll hope you’ll embark on this journey with me. Even if you don’t want to take all of the challenges, or even if they don’t all apply to you, I think we can all find areas of our lives in which to improve, even if it’s just a little bit. I can’t wait to see what the end of October will look like! (PS this isn’t intended to overwhelm anyone, or even me for that matter. It will probably take more than a month to implement all of the changes- but the first step is to start somewhere, right?)
So here’s today’s challenge: Don’t rush.
Today, tomorrow, try to make it a habit to slow down a bit. This takes preparation. It may mean making the kids’ lunches the night before instead of in the morning. It might mean forgoing Facebook a few days so you can get the kitchen mopped. (Maybe I’m talking to myself? I’ll never tell!) The main reason we rush, I think, is because we try to fit too many unnecessary things in our day, then we get to the stuff that has to be done, we’re in a mad rush- sometimes literally mad!
What steps will you take today in order to slow down tomorrow?
I like this idea of small changes. Totally accessible! Stumbled.
I’m really looking forward to this. Simple changes are do-able!
Great topic! And you’ve inspired me to put together a 30 or 31 day series for my blog 🙂 I’ll probably do a November series as opposed to October.
I love that!!!! It just amazes me how God uses everything to teach us – I am leading a Bible Study by Priscilla Shirer called Breathe – all about taking a Sabbath rest – Your blog is so spot on of one of the things we can do to add margin to our lives – don’t rush and prepare ahead of time!! Thanks!!! I love it!!!
I ‘stumbled’ and pinned and I look forward to seeing more posts from you. I agree–the whole rushing through the important things and wasting time on the insignificant things (like Facebook) needs to change in my life!
I like the idea of making small changes. Rushing around always leaves me impatient, annoyed, and regretting losing my temper! 🙂 Good luck! #Be.You.Tiful link party
I love this blog! It gets me excited to make my own goals.
Thanks for linking up with the Be.you.tiful link party with your post. You were featured this week! http://www.thehappygal.com/tiful-link-party-41/
I love this idea of making small changes each day. Heres to create new habits one change at a time. 🙂
Update: As I said, you inspired me, and I did it! I started a series on my blog “30 Days of Yoga”. Thank you thank you thank you 🙂
