What I Wore: Anniversary Edition

(pssst… did you hear that Beth Moore is giving away tons of free e-books? Just click here to go to Amazon!)

Last week, December 29th to be exact, Ben and I celebrated our 12th anniversary. Seriously, where has the time gone? How am I old enough to be married for 12 years?

For the last several years, we’ve made it a tradition to spend some time at the beach over the Christmas holidays around our anniversary. Sometimes it’s just us, sometimes it’s with the kids, sometimes it’s a combination of the two. This year, we did the combo. We spent the first night just the two of us (hallelujah for two sets of friends who combined efforts to keep all four of our kids!) then another friend brought the kids down the next day and they stayed the second night with us.

The first day- our actual anniversary- was a perfect day. We drove to downtown Galveston, which we don’t normally do- we usually head straight to the seawall. We walked around a bit and then had lunch. Ben snapped this pic of me while we were there:

Now again, I don’t pretend to be a fashion blogger, but I do know how to snag a good deal! (Did you read my challenge for this year?)

Gray shirt: h&m, $12  (the sleeves are lace!)

Sweater: Bealls, $20

jeans: target mossimo skinnies, $17

boots: Bealls on Black Friday, $15

I just loved the look of this wall behind me. Downtown has some beautiful buildings. Look at this one:

Then Ben took me on a horse-drawn carriage ride. It was so much fun, and a perfect day outside!

Then we went to the hotel and swam. No pictures of that. 🙂

That night we went to dinner in one of the restaurants in the hotel. It was absolutely delicious.

12th anniversary

I did get this dress second-hand from Plato’s Closet a few years ago for $7. I love it because it’s classy but really comfortable, too.

We had a wonderfully relaxing day, slept allll night (it was our first night with zero kids since Canaan was born over a year ago!), and had a relaxing morning the next day. Then the kiddos arrived and shortly thereafter this happened:

canaan with pizza

Yes, Canaan pulled an entire pizza into his playpen from the table in the room. Guess we need to watch where we put the playpen next time! We spent the evening at Moody Garden’s Festival of Lights. I highly recommend that if you’re in the area. Landon and Allie ice-skated, then we all walked through the lights.

It was a fun trip, and even though it thoroughly changed when the kids got there (duh!) we love making memories with them and building traditions.

What’s your favorite tradition during the year?
