Today, I am excited to be drawing (later in the afternoon!) for the winner of Crystal Paine’s (aka Money Saving Mom) new book! You still have time to enter here! Since she is giving all of the profit from the book to Compassion International {awesome, awesome!}, I thought I would take the time to highlight a few non-profits that we have come to love over the years.
World Vision– I love this ministry as well. If you haven’t read Richard Stearn’s book, The Hole in Our Gospel, it is a must-read. It tells of his trail in life that lead him from leader of a multi-million dollar corporation to leader of a non-profit doing ministry all over the world.
We also sponsor a child through World Vision. Sponsoring a child is truly one of the most meaningful activities we do as a family.
Northrise University in Zambia. My husband was able to go on a mission trip this summer to both Kenya and Zambia, including work at this phenomenal university. He loved the work going on at Northrise- they are working to create sustainable agricultural jobs (chickens, bananas, cattle) in order for the students to pay their tuition as well as generate income for the university Their homepage states a mission of “Empowering the people of Zambia, one student at a time.”
I prayerfully hope that you consider giving to a non-profit that benefits another country this Christmas season. I know that America is in a recession, but even our recession truly looks like wealth to most of the remainder of the world. God has so richly blessed us when we are giving in a truly sacrificial manner.
Merry Christmas, and see you tomorrow with another post from Sarah!
