That brings me to my next point-
2)We need to help others feel comfortable and accepted. Have you ever been the minority in a crowd? Since moving to Houston we have attended a few events where we were the only white people there. It gave so much perspective that I never had before. I will admit, it was a bit uncomfortable. Not because anybody did anything wrong, but simply because we stuck out like sore thumbs. I mean, have you seen my family? We are about as white as it gets!
We have also spent time in situations where we were the only native English speakers. Talk about eye-opening. It made me realize how hard it is for people who don’t speak English so well to feel comfortable.
I am so glad I had these experiences, though, so I can be more sensitive to how others feel.
3) Help our kids. One thing in the movie that broke my heart as much as the mistreatment of their children. I know this in no way depicts every mother in that time period. My grandmother raised children in the 50s and I know that she loved, and still loves, her children very much. But the women in this movie
