5 Must- Haves When I’m Pregnant {31 Days of All Things Children: Day 3}

5 Things “Must Haves” When I’m Pregnant

I’m blogging for 31 Days about “All Things Children,” and today, I’m going to tell you 5 things that I “must have” when I’m pregnant. Now I put that in quotation marks because obviously I could live without these things, but they definitely make the 9 months a little easier!
PS I’m 31 weeks now! Getting closer!
1.) My body pillow

Seriously. There is a movie starring Jennifer Lopez (The Backup Plan, I believe?) where her significant other gets frustrated with the body pillow always being between the two of them. I think it may have even been thrown out the window at some point! When Ben and I watched it, he just laughed, because he understands. But for some reason it makes sleeping SO much more comfortable (and in the last month, more tolerable at least) because it seems to keep your hips in line or something. This is definitely my #1 “need” when I’m pregnant. Sleep is precious, you know!
2.) Tums and/or Zantac
Sleep is precious during pregnancy (see #1) and heartburn doesn’t make for great sleeping. Luckily both Tums and Zantac are approved for pregnancy. If my heartburn is just mild, I pop a few Tums. If I had something particularly spicy for dinner, I go ahead and take a Zantac before heading to bed, and I don’t have any problems. (also, drinking milk at bedtime can help with mild heartburn)
3.) A comfy bra for sleeping

If it seems that all things revolve around sleeping, well yes. 🙂 There won’t be a whole lot of it after baby comes! I bought these Gillian O’Malley bras in my last pregnancy from Target (I was going to put in the link but it says they are now only sold in stores) and they are great! Comfy during pregnancy, and they also double as nursing bras for after baby comes. I may or may not have used mine as a sports bra as well. I highly recommend investing in a few of these.
4.) Flip flops

This may seem a strange “must have” in pregnancy but if you’ve ever seen my feet at the end of a pregnancy, you’d know that these are usually my only option for footwear! So far *fingers crossed* I don’t have any swelling and am still wearing my regular shoes, but just in case, I have lots of flip flops waiting. And yes, wearing flip flops in November is perfectly acceptable, especially if you live in Texas!
5.) Saltines and cereal
This is more of an early pregnancy thing, but keeping a stack of saltines by my bed- especially in this pregnancy- definitely helped quell the nausea before rolling out of bed. I by no means had bad morning sickness with my first 3 pregnancies, but this time I was pretty much nauseous from noon till night for the first fourteen weeks. Cereal was about the only thing I could choke down, other than my trusty saltines.
What about you? Anything you couldn’t live without during pregnancy?

    I could not live without sushi. I totally broke the rule on that one. Fresh fish sounded so good. I only ate a a reputable place, I just couldn’t get enough.

  2. I couldn’t live without my yoga pants. That, and fresh fruit. I’m pretty sure that’s all I ate.

  3. Yes, comfy clothes are a must! I ate lots of fruit this time as well. Mangos, anyone? 🙂
