Handprint Thanksgiving platter: {Thanksgiving Craft}

Last week, I shared my daughter Allie’s Thanksgiving project. Well of course, her little sister Evie wanted to do a project as well and I was happy to oblige. I found this fun handprint Thanksgiving platter on Imperial Sugar’s website while browsing around for recipes. There are several fun crafts on this site- including a pumpkin made from sugar! I think that will be our next project.

Today is Evie’s birthday (party pictures coming soon!) so I’m so glad I have her handprint on her third birthday!

This project is really simple yet is worth the time since it’s preserving a little memory of this girl who’s growing up way too fast.

She’s a little excited to get started!

You’ll need:
a ceramic platter or plate (I found ours at Dollar Tree)
assorted color paints made for ceramic
a small paintbrush

Paint your child’s hand and each finger. Work quickly to keep the paint from drying. Press the palm of her hand on the plate, pressing each finger and her palm individually. Use the paintbrush to add features to the turkey, such as a beak and feet.

Add a phrase if you like. We did “Give Thanks” but you could also do “Happy Thanksgiving” or “Turkey Day.”

We also added Evie’s name and the year so we don’t forget- I’ve got lots of sets of handprints around here!

You can dry the paint (after 48 hours of air drying) in an oven. Put the plate in when the oven is cold, then set to 325 and have it bake for 30 minutes.

She was so excited to finish! It’s fun spending individual time with each kid doing projects like this. We can’t wait to do more for Christmas!
