One of my very favorite things about blogging is all the great books I get to review! I am such a reader anyway that getting free- books that I want to read anyway!– on a regular basis has really been fantastic.
I reviewed a book by Priscilla Shrirer last week and have still been mulling over its message this past week. At the same time I received that book, I also got Beth Moore’s new devotional, Whispers of Hope. It is a 10-week book/journal that is focused on bringing the reader/journaler into a deeper, more consistent prayer life.
I’ve already mentioned in another review that I love writing in books, so a book that was made to write in just about makes me giddy! (this is the only downfall to my beloved Kindle, although you better believe that I use the highlight and note-taking feature on a regular basis!)
The book is in a very simple format, which I love: a short devotional and scripture to read, then six different areas to write down the things for things for which you want to pray, using the acronym P.R.A.I.S.E. The letters stand for praise, repentance, acknowledgement, intercession, supplication, and equipping. (And if you’re worried about a short devotional not packing in enough spiritual meat, don’t fear. This is Beth Moore, ladies!)
I love the thought of writing down prayers and then flipping back to see how they were answered- because all prayers are answered!
The answer can be a resounding no, a much-welcomed yes, or a sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seats-yes-but-not-now. But God is faithful in answering his children!
One of my favorite topics comes from day 26, about infiltrating our lives with the word of God. One thing that has been weighing heavily on my heart lately is those (including myself) who claim to be Christ-followers but don’t know his word! One of my goals for this year is to memorize 30 scriptures, which I do with my kids during school. (And so many people say that can’t memorize, but remember your favorite song in high school? I do, too, every word of it! We can memorize!)
If you’re looking to spend more time with the Lord in his word and in prayer, Whispers of Hope is a beautiful tool through which to do this.

I was really interested to see what you thought of this book. I was given this book at a Lifeway conference in November. I’d also love to know who asked you to review this book…I read so many books and I’m not sure I’d have time to review the books someone asked me to but I’d love to check into it. Thanks for the review.
