One of my favorite movies is My Big Fat Greek Wedding. The story of a not-beautiful-by-American-standards girl meets the love of her life at her family’s restaurant. Lots of delicious food is involved as well- the Greeks apparently like to eat! I think we’d get along just fine. 🙂
I also love the HUGE family portrayed in Toula’s family. My family is huge as well and I just love getting together with everyone for catching up, and you guessed it, eating delicious food!
One of my favorite scenes in the movie is when Toula’s and Ian’s parents are meeting for the first time. Ian’s mom is giving Toula’s mom a bundt cake, and trying to explain how to say the word correctly.
This dreamsicle cake was totally easy. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
- cake: 1 box Pillsbury Orangesicle cake mix
- 2 eggs
- 1¼ cup water
- ½ cup applesauce
- Frosting:
- 1 block cream cheese
- ½ box Orange jello
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Prepare the cake mix by mixing the cake mix, water, eggs, and applesauce for 2 minutes with a hand blender or stand mixer. (You can also prepare the cake according to the directions on the back; I was just trying to save a few calories)
- Pour into a greased Bundt cake pan and bake for approximately 35 minutes.
- Invert on a plate after cooling in the pan a few minutes.
- Allow to cool completely before frosting.
- To prepare frosting: using a blender, blend together all the frosting ingredients.
- Drizzle the frosting over the cooled cake. If you'd like to completely frost the cake, you can double the frosting ingredients.
- Enjoy!

I grew up in New Hampshire. My mom often made Bundt cakes. In fact, I saw Bundt cakes there far more often then I’ve had them in Texas (excluding the ones I make! LOL)!!!
