{At our fall festival: Daddy as City Boy, Mommy as Country girl, L as Old Man, A as Emily the Frog, and E as the Pink Leopard.} |
So last week did NOT go as planned. Well, it went as God planned, but not as I planned. What a difference! Sunday my friends and family left after a super-fun weekend full of celebrating my guy’s baptism as well as my daughter’s first birthday.
Monday I took a Sabbath- and my body needed it! I’m glad I did, too because who knew what the week would bring!
Tuesday I spent homeschooling my son as usual, and also took my older daughter to ballet/tap class. I tried to get a little cleaning done, but you know how that goes with three little ones around! I also got to go see Courageous with my hubby that afternoon- I highly encourage all dads to see it!
Anyway, Wednesday is when the crazy broke out. We found out Tuesday night that my father-in-law would be having a {repeat} eye surgery on Wednesday morning and staying with us that night. Keep in mind that my house was a WRECK from having a house full of company. No big deal, I thought- I’ll just clean Wednesday while homeschooling.
My father-in-law arrived around 9:30 am for my husband to drive him to the hospital for his hospital. {Yes, my F-I-L does drive to the largest city in Texas with one partially detached retina. Normal, right?!?!} We had accomplished about one hour of homeschooling prior to that point- THANK goodness- because that is about all we got done. Every.single.time. we sat down to do school, my baby girl threw up. All over me. All over whatever surface we were sitting on. Keep in mind I’m also supposed to be cleaning for my F-I-L’s stay as well, but ALL I could do was laundry and hold the sick baby.
Around 5 pm, I did a VERY quick pick up of our room, where my F-I-L was staying, and got the entry hall clean enough where he wouldn’t trip and fall on his way in. I was supposed to go to my women’s Bible study that night- which was helping me get through the day. But my hubby and F-I-L didn’t get home until 6:30, which is when the Bible study started, and we still had to fill prescriptions for him. I obviously couldn’t take my baby to childcare since she was puking on any surface that she touched, and I must admit my attitude was not good by this point.
Hubby did make it better by taking all three kids to pick up the prescription, and he even picked me up a Butterfinger Blizzard while he was out. {Oh, did I mention we have a Dairy Queen five minutes away now? Yay!} I stayed home and kept my F-I-L company while he dozed.
Around 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, I had decided to call the pediatrician to see about E’s throwing up. So Thursday morning at 8 am, I headed to see her. After a few tests to rule out some things, we decided to discontinue milk products for a week and see if that helped. So far, it hasn’t.
Anyway, Thursday night, L {our son} woke up throwing up around 11 pm and threw up all night. Around 3 am A {our older daughter} woke up throwing up and threw up the rest of the night. So we had two sick kids in our bed. Around 3 am I sent my husband to the couch so he at least could get some rest.
They were sickly all day Friday. Saturday morning, they woke up better but Ben and I felt bad. And the baby threw up again. We were really stressed about this because my cousin was getting married that evening, and Ben was preaching the wedding! Pretty important, right?
{At our house before the wedding.} |
We laid around all day until around 3 pm, then got up to get dressed for the wedding. I was feeling pretty good by that time, and Ben ended up feeling pretty good too. So we got to go to the {very lovely} wedding and had a great time.
{We took this picture with the self-timer. I told Ben it looks like it belongs in Guiness Book of World Records for Tallest Man!} |
Sunday morning, baby threw up again. I am beginning to think it is reflux. I just don’t know!!! Sunday evening was our fall festival, where my son was the BEST “old man” ever! A was a cute little frog and baby E was a pink leopard. She threw up again this morning. Poor baby. I guess it’s back to the doctor we go pretty soon. Keep her in your prayers, will ya?
