Well I am waaay late in joining this party, as in a week, but I figured it could never hurt to start, right?
The Nester (awesome blog!) is hosting a “31 days of…..” party all month long. Each blogger has her own goals to complete, or craft ideas to share, or even spiritual goals to complete- for 31 days. Did I mention I’m starting late?
Well with homeschooling, a four year old and an ever-getting-faster 11 month old, I have had too much time for craftiness- except for this dresser– shoot, I haven’t even had time to breathe- so I figured I would take this opportunity of the 31 days to have a goal of cleaning SOMETHING everyday for 31 days. {Not including regular kitchen cleaning and laundry!}
As I mentioned in this post, I get SO overwhelmed when I look at the day-to-day messes that I sometimes don’t do anything about it. And I think I *may* have conceded that I won’t have a neat house for the next few years {home all day, every day with three kids? Not neat, ever!}, but that doesn’t mean I can’t do cleaning projects.
This is probably the most boring 31 days series EVER- but at least it will hold me accountable to getting something done! And now that I have this nifty chore chart in front of me every.single.day.- I don’t have an excuse for not being able to think of anything to do! {feel free to grab it for yourself if you’d like!}
And the cool thing is, I have been doing some of the “chores” on the list all week anyway. So here’s a round up of the first seven days:
Day one- I can’t remember for sure- but I do know we were supposed to be in San Antonio that day for a mini-vacay but due to sick kids we were home. I was probably on vacation mode and didn’t do much of anything. 🙂 {Oh, just remembered that hubby washed my car. That counts, of course!}
Day two- I cleaned behind my fridge! It may sound crazy but it had been bugging me for a few weeks to get.it.clean. behind there. My baby girl was still sick so we stayed home from church and I got it done!
I also steam cleaned the living room carpet that day- so that counts for nothing on Day One, right?
I’m going to be painfully open here and share the before and after pics. Don’t judge.
Day three- After the dresser redo of a few weeks ago, my daughter’s clothes were still in baskets. So I got all of her clothes back in the drawer {neatly!} and culled out the too-small stuff.
Day four- I think this is the day I cleaned up our play/school room. I don’t remember, but I do know it is already a disaster again. 🙂
Day five- I scrubbed our bathtub! It had been draining improperly so I Dranoed it and then scrubbed away. That felt good!
Day six-I cleaned up baby girl’s room and got some pretties on her newly-repainted dresser.
Day seven- My mom and aunts and grandma were coming into town, so I was busy for several hours. Things I got done: sheets for two beds washed and back on the beds, kitchen cleaned {including sweeping, steam cleaning, microwave cleaned}, two bathrooms cleaned, son’s room vaccuumed. Whew! That should count for a week, right?
Day eight- is today! Goal: vacuuming the stairs. After my older daughter is awake of course! I’ll keep you updated since I know your life probably can’t go on knowing if my stairs are clean our not. 🙂
Good job!! I need to work on my place!!
Now I’m scared to look under my fridge – I bet it would be even worse!
haha, well that is after 2.5 years! It probably won’t happen again at my house for at least that long. 🙂
It is a constant battle, right?
For sure. I wrote on my blog today about my big cleanup that I did yesterday. I’m so exhausted from Day 1 that I totally did not accomplish anything on Day 2!! lol
Yes, today was sort of a loss as far as cleaning goes. 🙂
