With 4 kids, getting everything done I have to get done is well, sometimes a feat in itself. Doing things like getting my oil changed or scheduling my own well check-ups- which are both super important- gets delayed because, well, life.
Over my almost-10 years of parenting (hard to believe!) I’ve come up with a few ideas for multi-tasking for busy moms. Multi-tasking helps streamline my schedule and keep everyone happy, at least most of the time. 🙂
1.) Using a crockpot.
What better way to multi-task than to have dinner cooking all day while you do everything else? Here are some of my favorite crock-pot recipes. They really do make life easier!
2.) Listen to pod-casts while cleaning.
I love listening to encouraging podcasts by women like Nancy Leigh Demoss, but who has time to sit down and listen for 30 minutes? I wish! Instead, I start the podcast on my phone and set out to cleaning or folding the mountain of laundry that ALWAYS exists!
3.) Spend time with friends while exercising
I am a firm believer that women need solid friendships in their lives, but as moms it’s often hard to find time to squeeze that in. We also need to exercise, but that also can get pushed to the back burner. So why not combine the two and enjoy the fresh air and exercise while chatting with a friend? I am much more likely to get out and run if I know a friend is waiting on me. Unless I forget like I did last week- Sorry, Nikki! (Read more about how to be a good friend here)
3.) Get your oil changed while grocery shopping.
The other day, Ben and I decided to get our oil changed before heading to a movie on a date. The problem was, we also needed to get groceries during that time. We decided to head to Wal-Mart and do both at once! We walked into the Auto Care Center and were happily surprised that in the Houston area, the Pennzoil High-Mileage oil change was on Rollback to $35.88!
Our lovely 8-year-old van waiting for a little TLC with Pennzoil high-mileage oil. It’s a motor oil that is specifically designed for new or late model vehicles with over 75,000 miles- that definitely describes both of our vehicles! It even comes with a warranty.
We had the nicest employee change our oil.
While we got our oil changed, we were able to get our groceries and then make it to our movie. If we’d had to go to two separate places, that never would have happened!
What are your best multi-tasking tips? I’m always looking for other ones!

I love going to Walmart for my oil changes, too! Anytime I can drop my car off to get serviced while also crossing shopping errands off my list is a win-win…for me and my car! Thanks for sharing. #client
