A Good Read

Repeat after me: I will never, ever pay retail for books. Ever.
Okay, don’t you feel better now? I just felt compelled to share this tip after visiting our HalfPrice Bookstore this afternoon. I know that all of my readers are not lucky enough to have not one, but two of these gems within 10 miles of their homes, but stay with me. It’s not my only hint!
I love this store. I have bought several books here for much cheaper than even half the cover price.
In fact, I bought 13 books today for $14.07. Yep, that’s a dollar a piece plus tax. And they are good books, too. Two John Grishams, a James Patterson novel, one of Jodi Piccoult’s books. Their identical counterparts were sitting on the other shelves, at the normal “half” price. I’m not sure why this happens, but I’m not complaining!
If you have one close by, I highly recommend visiting their clearance section. It’s a bit like shopping at Goodwill- you have to dig to find the goodies- but so worth it if you’re an {at-least -used- to- be- before- motherhood} reader like me.
Second hint, although I am sure most of you know this by now:
Amazon! My hubby bought 2 books for me this Christmas from an unnamed bookstore, who shall remain nameless, but whose initials are B&N. Afterwards, we found them on Amazon for less than half their price- including shipping! It was a lesson learned!
Third- garage sales. As I mentioned in this post, I went garage-saling last weekend and saw tons of books for 50 cents or a quarter. I didn’t buy any, but now kinda wishing I had. The only downside of this method is that you really can’t be looking for a  particular book- just get what you happen to see.
Well there you have it. Three ways to save tons of money on books. Of course, there’s always the library. Free. Unless you keep books waaaay longer than you’re supposed to. I mean, not like I know from experience.
P.S. A shameless plug for my Amazon storefront! Some of the books I bought today I am going to attempt to sell on Amazon. Here is the link to my store-
