This summer our son Landon played basketball and I realized I forgot to post any pictures! He was on an excellent team and his coach was so helpful to the kiddos. I loved watching him play- it’s been a year or so since he was involved in any sports and in my opinion he was pretty stinkin’ cute out there.
The coach was great at teaching the boys how to play defense and I have to admit I cringed a time or two when things got a bit physical. That was my baby out there!
Since Landon was only about 6 years old the last time he played sports, it was a new world to me! It got me to thinking about serious injuries that can occur when kids play sports. Although Landon’s age quite to that point yet, I can see the day when kids on his team sustain injuries from playing hard.
It brought me back to Landon’s early days when the medical bills piled up almost as fast as the diapers. Even though medical insurance covered a good portion of his hospital stays, it’s the stuff you don’t typically think about at the time of crisis that aren’t covered by traditional insurance that add up: for example, parking alone was $10 a day, not to mention hotel stays, meals out and gas!
