Blogger Burnout, Plus Our Summer Recap Part 1

Wow, it is hard to believe we are already into July. I know that many moms are ready for their kiddos to be back in school, but as a homeschool mama, I want the summer to last as long as possible! 🙂 We’ve been super busy so far with travelling- some planned and some not- so I am hoping for a relaxed few weeks before school begins.

Well the term “blogger burnout” wasn’t even around ten years ago, but I believe I was experiencing it the last few weeks and/or months. I started this blog June 21st of last year (and didn’t even commemorate with a blog-a-versary- another new term!- ooops!) and have written posts about 5 times a week since then. That times up lots of time and energy, and that plus the worst morning/all-day sickness I’ve experienced in all of my other pregnancies combined, created the perfect storm for not blogging.

So I am back, but on a much more relaxed schedule. With my fourth child coming in November, and homeschooling 2 kiddos starting in September, I have a feeling my five-days-a-week of blogging are over for a while. And you know what? That’s okay! Whew, the pressure is off, and it feels great!

So, here’s a little of what we’ve been up to the last month or so. At the beginning of June, we went to my mother-in-law’s retirement party and also celebrated our son’s birthday with my husband’s side of the family. Those pictures have somehow hidden themselves (probably on hubby’s computer)- I will have to dig them up ASAP!

A few days later, we went to my parents’ to celebrate our son’s 7th birthday, as well as my little brother’s 16th birthday.

My sister and I. I love this pic! This also happened to be the night before she delivered her 2nd baby. More on that below! (Did I mention I am about 14 weeks pregnant here and she is 39- we are too close to the same size!)

Happy kiddos. There are 17 grandchildren on my mom’s side of the family, and 15 great-grandkids (plus 2 more on the way!)- there is never a shortage of cousins around when we go visit our hometown.
My great uncle has been telling our daughter for years that he had “puppies in his tummy” and that she could have the spotted one. He is quite the jokester. So that night, he gave her a spotted “puppy.” As you can tell, they were both delighted!
Our baby seems to be delighted too!

The next morning, we got up bright and early to welcome my new little niece, Vera, into the world. She is the sweetest little girl!

Aren’t they both beautiful?

Her auntie might love her a wee bit! Oh, and her middle name is my middle name. 🙂

That’s all for today. See you soon- but not too soon! 🙂
