If you’d told me when I was 18 that I would be an exercise-3-times-a-week gal by the time I was in my late 20s and early 30s, I would have most likely laughed at you. I was the lucky girl who could eat whatever I wanted, literally never exercise, and never gain a pound. I did pretty much everything I could do to avoid sports- no athletics for me!
When I went to college, I had to take a few exercise classes for credits. The first one I took was bowling -in which I earned one of my very few “Bs.” (what???) I did end up taking a more athletic, ahem, athletic class in the form of aerobics, but stopped exercising the day the class was over.
Then enter my 20s. The freshman-fifteen I didn’t gain in college came on with a vengeance, and interest, about a year after I got married. I’ve been fighting it off since then, and it.is.not.easy.
Thankfully, I have found exercise that I love (and many that I don’t- running, I’m looking at you!) and have been able to keep it up consistently the last few years, taking breaks during and right after pregnancy of course.
Boot camp has become my absolute favorite choice for many reasons: it’s at a set time so I can schedule it in our weekly calendar; it’s a fantastic workout thanks to my great instructor; it involves two of my good friends, and I love that it’s outside!

One of the reasons I gained so much weight in my early 20s was due to PCOS, which also causes a heavy, irregular monthly cycles. The last thing I want is to have to worry about that while I’m working out, so I headed to grab some U by Kotex supplies at Wal-Mart at their everyday low prices. I have to stay prepared for that lovely time of month. (or sometimes “times” of month in my case!)
And while supplies last, select boxes of the Sleek tampons and Cleanwear pads include 3 free Goody hair elastics, which are also another workout essential! Gotta keep that sweaty mop out of my face!
While our cycle isn’t a fun topic, it is something we all have to deal with, so I love that Kotex took the time and effort to create pretty packaging for their products. The bright colors and fun designs blend seamlessly into my workout bag with my other gear.
I love that when I go to boot camp, I don’t have to worry about my period- just about surviving the workout! 🙂 U by Kotex can give you the confidence you need in working out!
What is your favorite way to work out? What’s in your workout bag? Here’s what’s in mine!
I’ve been a runner pretty much my entire life and I have had a love hate relationship with it at times. Keep going!
The packaging is quite pretty & congrats to you on finding exercises that you actually enjoy!
I need to be ‘that girl’ that works out. I have never had a regimen so I can’t really talk about working out but I can certainly talk about periods.. that ‘s a topic I know a lot about 😉
I love blogilates. Casey is so positive, it makes working out fun! And in my bag… water. That’s pretty much it haha. I do a lot of running and weight sharing exercises so I only really use my body and the ground. Great post!
I LOVE it all, because working out makes me feel strong and beautiful inside and out. I am so grateful that I can do what I do on a daily basis and it is so important to make extra time to take care of you both physically and nutritionally on a daily basis. Life is so much better when you feel and look your best after a awesome workout!
I’ve always had to work out to avoid gaining lots of weight. I’ve found that I enjoy group workouts too– mostly yoga, dance classes and spin classes
I’ve always been the chubby girl LOL So I’ve been going to the gym off and on since I was in my early teens! Kotex has always been in my gym bag 🙂
