Man it’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK. Seriously, can someone please put a “pause” on the calendar? Although I have to say I’m already excited about seeing family, taking a break from our hectic schedule, oh, and the food.
For a food-lover like me, holiday time is so much fun. The problem is, I end up eating out more than usual because I’m busy running errands, then it’s fast food on top of delicious party food, (not to mention the copious amounts of hot chocolate I’ve been consuming!) which equals jeans that don’t zip.
But! There’s a healthy fast food solution for the Houston area! I’m so glad that El Pollo Loco offers delicious but healthy eating options when you’re on the run. Their Sugar Land location is up and running, with many more planned for the next year. Now if they would hurry and get a location on my side of town! (hint, hint!)
I got to sample the Grilled Chicken Salad at the Sugar Land Grand Opening last month, and it’s truly delicious. Flavorful grilled chicken, Cotija cheese, tortilla strips, pico- it’s all good!
El Pollo also has a “5 under 500” menu section that features meals under 500 calories. And it’s not just salads! Chicken enchiladas, a mango grilled tostada, an avocado burrito… really yummy choices that don’t break the calorie bank!
I also love that you can see the chicken being grilled when you walk into the store. Landon is enjoying the view as well!
Oh, and there’s a new location opening in just a few days! Copperfield, TX will be home to a brand-new El Pollo Loco on November 26 so you can hit it when you’re shopping at the outlet mall! Or, pick up a freshly grilled chicken instead of slaving over your oven cooking a turkey all day! 😉
Even though tempting treats are unavoidable during this time of year, I’m so thankful there’s at least one option for eating healthfully while on the run!
