Five years ago, with the help and prayers of others, my husband and I gave birth for the third time. Only this time it wasn’t a baby (although we’ve done plenty of that, too!)- it was a church. A church plant that God whose idea God seeded in our hearts in 2006, and two years later we officially launched our Sunday services.
After five years, a church plant is no longer considered a church plant, but an established church! 75% of church plants don’t make it to 5 years so we are so thankful and blessed that not only did we make it, but our church is flourishing and its members truly love the Lord and seek to honor Him.
Our church is situated in the Texas Medical Center, which is home to 7.2 million patient visits each year! Our son Landon was one of those patients when he was born, and had surgery at 7 weeks old, in 2005. Of course we didn’t love Houston at first- we didn’t live here at the time- but slowly God opened our hearts to this beautiful mission field.
