You guys how can it possibly be just a few days until Christmas 2016? It seems like just a few days ago we were ringing in the year with friends.
This is a gift guide that I hope you’ll find useful- gifts that take up ZERO room in the home of the recipient. Since we downsized our house last year, these are the kinds of gifts we love!
An Amazon Prime Membership Yes, I’m still crazy about this gift because it’s just SUCH a good deal. Many people think of it only as free day shipping which in itself is awesome sauce and has saved me from running out of diapers ITHOUT running to the store with 5 kids many times. But it’s SO much more: Prime music, which will stream an entire album with NO commercials, tons of free shows and movies, one free e-book a month, and the list goes on. There’s now even food delivery offered in some areas! For a full explanation of my love of Prime, you can click here. Click here to purchase it for a gift, or click here to purchase it for yourself.
A massage (or pedicure or manicure)– I don’t know many people who would turn down an hour or two of relaxation. One of my favorite ways to purchase these gifts is through Groupon or Living Social. You can also check into massage schools for good rates. Just be sure to check the ratings wherever you buy. Click here to buy through Living Social (Use code GREENMONDAY for an additonal 20% off!) or here to purchase through Groupon. Make sure on both of these sites you are searching in the correct city for your recipient. 🙂
A membership to a museum or zoo. Our church just gave us a membership to the Houston Zoo and my mom has done that for Christmas before. I LOVE IT! It would cost us around $100 for ONE trip to the zoo with our large crew so this gift not only takes up zero room, but it adds a huge value. Plus it gets us out of the house- the zoo is only 15 minutes from us. Many times, you can also find a Groupon for these memberships as well.
A Hello Fresh subscription. Technically, this gift DOES take up room (it’s food!) but it’s consumable and will only take up room in their fridge for a few days. 🙂 Here’s their description from their site:
“We’re on a mission to make it easy for you to eat tasty, nutritious meals from scratch at home. Whether you’re a seasoned cook short on time or a beginner looking to learn, we’ll send you new recipes every week, with the exact ingredients you need to cook them. And when we say exact we mean exact. Whether it’s meat, veggies, dairy, nuts or a measured-out teaspoon of spices, the only thing you need is some olive oil, salt and pepper.”
I love this idea for a bachelor, a college student who’s interested in trying non-dorm food, or even a newly-wed couple! Click here to get $50 off your first two weeks, PLUS free delivery!
An Audible subscription– The world of audio books is exploding and an Audible membership is the perfect way to gift digital audio books to your mom, kids, bestie, whomever. I’ve decided that I’m not particularly an audio book person, but my kids like them so we have the membership for that. Click here for TO FREE AUDIO BOOKS!
You could also consider a Kindle Unlimited gift membership. For $9.99 a month, your recipient gets unlimited reading from over 1 million ebooks PLUS unlimited listening to thousands of audiobooks. (These books/audio books are borrowed instead of purchased)
The gift of your time- We are all so busy that the gift of time is SUCH a good gift. Gift “coupons” to your kids good for one-on-one time- then schedule it to make it happen. Give your spouse coupons for monthly date nights- then follow through. Promise your grandma an hour phone date every other week. (Oh, how I wish I could do that- both of my grandmas are deceased) Whatever it is you gift, make sure you follow through! (Here are things to do with your son for cheap or free and a list for your daughters as well.
What “zero-room” gifts would you add to the list?

I love the idea of audio books. It was something I was considering for a few people already, but I’ve never purchased any so I wasn’t sure where to begin. Thanks for sharing that link. Checking on it now!
You are very welcome, hope you get to try it!
Very informative post! I read your site regularly and you always post really great stuff.
I shared this on Facebook and my followers really enjoyed it.
Keep up the great work! 🙂
