Help! It’s the last few weeks of school!

Hey friends! I don’t know about you, but I am r.e.a.d.y. for my kids to be done with school for the year! We have loved our new school this year (they’re on campus 2 days a week and homeschool the rest of the week) but we are all ready for some summer fun!

I’ve rounded up several resources and tips to help you make it through your last few weeks. You can do it, mama! (Some of these are my affiliate links, which help support my blog and our growing family if you choose to purchase through them. Thank you!)

Taking 5 kids to the store is surprisingly not as fun as it sounds!

First of all, one of my favorite tips is to make less trips to the store, and I seek out different avenues of doing so. That’s why I *love* having items shipped to our home. Grove Collaborative is how I get many of our cleaning supplies, and this week they are running a special for my readers who are new customers (just in time for the end of school-yay!) spend $20 and get all this for free:

(One of my favorite products is the Method 4x Concentrated Laundry Detergent in the Beach Sage scent. Add a few bottles of that and you’re set on laundry detergent for a while, and you get these free goodies! Existing customers click here for a free walnut scrubber sponge.

Spend some time doing non-school stuff with your kids

I find myself in such a crunch to get school “done” that I forget to enjoy my kids. This makes us all even more stressed! This weekend we spent 3 days in the country at our church retreat, and we had so much fun. Maybe you can’t get away for the weekend, but maybe an afternoon at the beach or park is a good idea for your family! (PSSST… kids seem to argue less when they’re outside. So it’s a double win!)

Read this post by Jen Hatmaker called the Worst End of School Mom Ever! It is hilarious and vocalizes what many of us are feeling right now!

Make fun summer plans

Now is the time to bring out your calendar and start planning some fun summer activities if you haven’t already. Maybe you’re not doing a big vacation this year, but scheduling in some fun things like a trip to a waterpark or a regular library day will help you make the last push towards summer. (Speaking of libraries, click here for a list of some of my must-reads!) Also check out these summer boredom busters from my friend Kirsten.

Spend some time in prayer and Bible reading

Sometimes in our haste we neglect what is most important- and that is time with God. Notice I didn’t say time alone. I’ve had to learn that in this season, it may not be time alone with God- but time with God with a toddler at my feet or with the kids running around the yard. It’s rare that I get up early to read my Bible that one of them doesn’t wake up, too. Rather than be mad about it, I invite them to sit in my lap and join me. (I also use driving time to pray. That equals lots of prayer time in high-traffic times 😉 )

I hope this list gives you some good resources to help you make it through the end of the school year. With a little planning, some fun thrown in plus a lot of prayer, it will be summer before you know it!

grace and peace,

Kelli
