So you may remember that this month was “No-Spend” February for us. While it did not quite pan out as I had hoped, I did keep my commitment to not purchase any clothing for myself this month. (even from a thrift store!)
This last weekend, however, I came home with a new (with tags!) convertible dress/skirt, a cardigan, a pair of sandals, plus a new Brighton charm bracelet and a few books, for FREE! Nada, zilch, nothing. Would you like to learn how to get free clothes? Of course you would!
How did I accomplish this, you ask? A few friends of mine and I gathered for a clothing swap, where we brought things from our own closets that no longer worked for us- but were still in good condition- and traded them with one another!
We all ended up with at least one new outfit and had a lot of fun in the process! What’s crazy is that not one of us are the same size, yet not one of us left empty-handed.
Here’s my beautiful friend Linda (which also means beautiful in Spanish!). She definitely found some great items that fit her like they were tailor-made for her! This dress is gorgeous, no?
My friend Phoebe Joy also found some great items to add to her wardrobe. This crocheted tank and leggings looked fantastic on her, and is something she said she never would have thought to try on her own!
Somehow we didn’t get a picture of Ronda- who put the whole thing together! But she got a fun sweater and a few jackets for work, plus a baby sling.
And here’s my outfit! As is well established, I love teal- you can read about it here, here, or here– and this dress is super, wonderfully comfy!
Even though not many gals were able to attend, we’re hoping to repeat the swap when the seasons change again. You could also easily do this swap with kids’ clothing!
Have you ever done a clothes swap? Did you come away with some good swag?

I love swapping! I hosted an online scarf swap a few weeks ago and it was a hit. Definitely doing it again!
I’ve never done a clothes swap, exactly but my younger sister is very nearly the same size as I am, and we have an understanding about who gets first dibs on any clothes that we aren’t loving! 😛
Kelli, you look awesome in that dress!
hi Kelli, what a great idea! Thanks for sharing. I might try that with a few other mums and see if we can do kids clothing swaps. Its a shame to have all those good clothes tucked and stored away in boxes.
