Well the week with only one child is coming to a close, and we are not quite done with our project. {Anyone surprised?} We are going to take the next few days just to relax and enjoy each other since it has been a super-busy few weeks. First, Ben went to Africa. Then, we had the bad week where he was really sick. This week has been a combo of him trying to catch up on work and help his crazy wife do the bedroom make-over she insisted would be easy and fast. 🙂
We did get one part of the project completely done and I wanted to share it today just to give you a teaser of the whole shebang.
Here is a close up of the flowers: {Pardon the bad pictures, I don’t have a fancy-schmancy camera! Although I would loooooove one.}
I said those flowers would be back! I originally bought them for our living room, but when we painted in there, I decided to not put them back up. When I painted the one wall in our bedroom green, I put them there. {I stored them on wax paper in the meantime.} I knew taking them down again would surely take away all of their “stickiness” but I really liked the pattern.
So…..
I drew a rectangle onto the wall with a level. Our friend Cameron taped off the rectangle {perfectly, I might add.}
Then, I put the decals onto the wall into a pattern I liked and traced them.
It really didn’t take all that long. I did get interrupted often with this:
But that was perfectly okay.
Here is a close up of the tracing:
I then painted in the flowers. Here it is partially done:
And voila! We had wall art, that will go above our bed. Here is Ben starting the “Great Reveal.”
And here it is completed. I am very happy with how it turned out. Not perfect, but very fun. And the best part- it cost hardly anything, so when I get tired of it, I can just paint over the white part and do whatever I want! {I am sure Ben is not too fond of this idea, as it requires moving the bed! ha} If I’d spent $200 on a painting, I’d be stuck with it for a loooong time.
And a closeup:

Love it, I painted stripes behind my bed a few years ago, still loving it.
That’s fantastic! What a great idea!
Great idea to reuse your decals! I love the no-commitment factor of paint. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by my blog!
That looks so great! I LOVE it up against the dark blue wall. Thank you so much for sharing this with us at Inspiration Friday this week!
