I have wrapped up my “encouragement project” for now- but will keep on sharing what God is teaching me about encouragement- and many other things! I wanted to share something today that God opened my eyes to this week….
“How many times do I have to tell you?!?!”
As a parent now for six years, I really wish I had a nickel for every time I uttered those words, either in my head or aloud in frustration to my kids. {Please tell me I’m not the only one!} But ya know what, it hit me the other day, as I was issuing an order for the umpteenth time, “How many times does God have to tell me something for me to remember?”
And he does it with so much more grace, and love, and patience than I can even imagine. I doubt he rolls his eyes at me, or sighs in impatience. To be sure, God does use discipline on those he loves (Hebrews 12:6). But I am sure his attitude is much better than mine when I am at the end of my rope.
Such a good reminder, Kelli! The Lord has definitely been working on my patience (or lack thereof) during these weeks that Shaun has been gone. I’ve seen some improvement, but I’ve also just been more aware of the times when I fail miserably.
Oh, and thank you so much for the adorable ornaments and your sweet note! You definitely have the gift of encouragement!
Oh my gosh…totally! Lightbulb moment! What a great reminder that we need to show grace and patience to our children.
