When the Pregnancy Test Says “No”

As a mom of four kids, I am sure that from the outside looking in, it would seem that getting pregnant came easily for my husband and me. That is actually only half true- for two of our children, the pregnancy was an unexpected (but very much wanted gift), while the other two pregnancies took over a year to achieve.

Baby #4 the day he was born. Nothing like newborn sweetness!

I cannot count the number of tests that I took that were negative during those two-plus years of trying. Since my cycle is extremely irregular, there really isn’t a good way to know if I’m “late” or not. So at least once a month, I would drop $10-$12 only to be more disappointed than the last time. (Good thing I now know how to get $1 pregnancy tests 😉 )

Even now, we both want one more baby. Although some think we’re crazy for wanting a fifth, it’s still disappointing that it’s been about a year and no pregnancy yet- but we remain hopeful! We are certainly blessed and SO very thankful for our precious family and would love to add to it.

I’m eating healthfully now and exercising on a regular basis- two things that have helped me in the past with getting pregnant. Something we just discovered and are excited about trying is AstroGlide Trying to Conceive gel. It gives sperm a better chance of survival compared to traditional lubricants and at only $12.99, it’s an expensive way to help the conceiving process.
