I’ve been doing a little “outfit research” lately, mostly by looking at other blogs and copying what they do. đ One trend seems to be using just a few pieces to create multiple outfits. I first saw this on the blog “Putting Me Together.” This gal does an incredible job of teaching non-fashionistas like myself how to dress well with not too many clothes. (Plus? I think we could be friends just by reading her “about me”!)
Anyway, I decided to do a “7 pieces = 7 outfits” experiment myself. Granted, I recruited my husband to photograph as soon as walked in the door at 5 pm, the sun was setting, my hair was barely fixed, and we had all four children on or near us! But it was still fun, and I think Ben was a little impressed I came up with 7 outfits in less than 30 minutes! (Seeing as how it usually takes me 2 hours to decide on one for date night!)
Here is a composite of all 7 outfits, then I’ll show you each outfit separately if you stick around. đ The seven pieces: Gray cropped jacket by Rafaella- I got this for around $9 at Bealls last year// find similar here
Pink/burgundy tunic by h&m-Â $12
Black leggings by h&m- $5
Dark skinny jeans by Forever 21- $7
Aqua Lace Dress- Apricot Lane- $15- Find similar here
Long black tunic by Forever 21, via Plato’s Closet- $6
Green and black lace shirt from Charming Charlie- $15- somewhat similar here
In the effort of full disclosure, I also wore two pairs of shoes, 2 scarves, 2 necklaces and 3 belts. đ
casual: black tunic + lace shirt+ leggings
belt, scarf, (gift from the Middle East) boots
This was probably the dressiest outfit of the bunch.
pink/burgundy tunic
boots, belt, necklace-F21
This was probably my favorite outfit. Ben liked it, too.
pink/burgundy tunic + gray cropped jacket + leggings
boots/necklace/belt
(This is my favorite belt ever! Got it on a girls trip with my mom and sister. You can find a similar one here.)
aqua lace dress + black leggings
black boots/necklace from Charming Charlie
aqua lace dress + skinnies
boots + belt+ scarf
Lace shirt+gray jacket+ skinnies
brown boots + necklace
And last but not least. This little guy was so very patient through the whole ordeal, but he was ready for mama by the end!
black boots, belt, scarf
black tunic + jacket + skinnies
So which outfit is your favorite? Can you think of another one?
Do you like to mix and match clothes too?
